Officer Wheeler with the Roosevelt Police Department responded to a call about children who couldn't find their mother.
The officer asked the two children where their mother was. One of them identified their mother as 34-year-old Karisa K. Dorcas, but she hadn't returned as soon as she told her children.
Officer Wheeler tried to call Karisa, but she didn’t answer. Another officer went to her place of work, but she wasn’t there either.
The children were then taken to the police station, where the officer called Karisa again. She answered and was told that her kids were at the Roosevelt Police Department.
Detective Kearny then interviewed Karisa. He came out from the interview and notified Officer Wheeler that Karisa had handed him a small bag of meth.
Detective Kearny stated that Karisa had admitted to possessing more Methamphetamine inside her vehicle and gave them consent to search her vehicle. They went outside to the car.
Karisa pulled the Methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia out of her purse and handed it to Officer Wheeler. She said that it was hers and that she had last used it a day ago.
The officer continued to search the bag and found a prescription bottle issued to someone other than Karissa for Gabapentin and seized it.
Karisa Dorcas was arrested and taken to the Duchesne County Jail.
