Vernal, Utah---On Sunday, October 19th, 2025, Cpl. Ross was sent to a disorderly call where it was reported that 19-year-old Gianni Jay Davis assaulted the Victim, who is under the age of 18, with a beer bottle.
The reporting party and Gianni were in contact via text, saying he wasn't welcome at the residence.
Cpl. Ross is familiar with Gianni from prior incidents he has been involved in.
It was then reported that the Victim had multiple injuries to his head, including severe bleeding from his face.
When the officer arrived on the scene, he saw a broken beer bottle and some blood spatter.
Multiple witnesses made statements saying they heard a bottle breaking after seeing Gianni hitting and kicking the Victim several times. One witness reported that the Victim was kicked in the head in a “curb stomping” manner.
The officer then spoke to the Victim, who stated he remembered being pushed, punched, and something hitting him in the back of the head, which he believed was a beer bottle.
Gianni was found in a vehicle fleeing the scene by assisting officers who performed a traffic stop on the car.
Gianni told the police he was involved in an altercation with the Victim after meeting him at the residence.
According to multiple witnesses, Gianni had prior plans to “jump” the Victim.
While Cpl. Ross spoke with Gianni; he could smell the strong odor of alcohol emitting from his person. A PBT showed the results of a .101 BrAC.
Based upon the injuries sustained by the Victim and after having been struck in the head by a beer bottle utilized as a weapon and by multiple kicks, Gianni used unlawful force against the Victim. Because the Victim was under 18, he was deemed a child under state statute. The unlawful force used against him was done knowingly and intentionally by Gianni. The homeowner had notified Gianni not to enter onto the property.
Gianni is also under the age of 21 years while being under the influence of an alcoholic beverage. He engaged in multiple tumultuous, unprovoked fights, causing a scene in a public place that was heard from a private place.
Gianni Davis was charged with the following:
Aggravated Assault
Child Abuse
Criminal Trespass of a Dwelling
Unlawful for Minor to Purchase / Possess Alcohol
Public Intoxication
Disorderly Conduct
