At 4:09 PM, dispatch received a 9-1-1 call with an unknown caller, during which the dispatcher could hear two males talking.
Uintah County Deputies arrived in the area of 150 E 750 N, where the call originated, and were met by two males outside a mobile home. They asked the older male who his neighbors were. While the deputies were speaking with him, they could smell the odor of marijuana.
A younger male of the two came around the side of the house, who appeared scared and nervous. Deputies began speaking with him and asked for his name and phone number. Dispatch then confirmed they could hear the deputy speaking through the open line, verifying this was the individual who had placed the 911 call.
The resident of the trailer was identified as 68-year-old Daryl C. Richardson.
Deputy Russell and an Agent with the Uintah Basin Narcotics Strike Force discussed the possibility of obtaining a search warrant for the residence due to receiving a report of a large quantity of marijuana inside the home.
Agent McGaha spoke with Daryl and advised him of his Miranda Rights before questioning. He stated he did not want to talk to him. The agent explained the following steps, and he said he understood but still didn't want to give any information that might incriminate him. The interview was then concluded.
The agent then spoke with the male on scene and advised him of his rights. He stated he understood and spoke briefly about what he had seen inside the residence. They reported having seen a large bag of marijuana inside the home on multiple occasions.
Sgt. Hill applied for and was granted a search warrant for the residence. During the search, the police found in Daryl's bedroom:
*A scale
*THC oil vape pen and cartridges
*A plastic coffee can containing two marijuana pipes with burnt marijuana flower in the bowls
*A black marijuana container with 1.4g of marijuana flower
*A black locked case containing a large quantity of marijuana flower
*One bag weighed 421.7g
*Another bag of ground marijuana flower weighed 28.6g
*A box of baggies
*A metal spoon and other paraphernalia items
*The interior of the case was lined with felt and contained loose marijuana flower throughout the lining
Richardson was transported to the Uintah County Jail by Deputy K Russell.
While Angent McGaha was obtaining booking information, Richardson stated that he doesn't sell meth or fentanyl, and all he does is pop a few pills and sell some marijuana.
