Vernal, Ut. On 1/6/24, a white passenger car was traveling in the 400 North Vernal Avenue area when Cpl Ross got behind the vehicle and conducted a local search of the registered owner.
The registered owner came back to 62-year-old Joy Lynn Ehrman. Joy's Utah driver's license status showed as follows: Suspend 1st per SE arrest. Cpl Ross performed a traffic stop near 600 South Vernal Avenue.
While speaking with Joy, who was standing outside the vehicle, Cpl Ross noticed she couldn't stand still and was jittery.
While searching Joy's purse, a small baggie with a white crystallized rock substance consistent with meth was found. Also, two altered plastic tubes known as "tooters" were found, and a large gray flame torch was found.
Joy was transported to the Uintah County Jail Sally Port to submit to a Standard Field Sobriety Test (SFST), given the contraband that was found and her unusual behavior. Joy said that the contraband was meth and it belonged to her. Joy stated she had used meth at 10:00 or 11:00 this morning.
After the SFST, Cpl Ross determined Joy was unable to operate her vehicle safely, and she stated she was under the influence of methamphetamine.
