Vernal man arrested at the Silver Pines Apartments for assault

By Travis Uresk

8/7/23

Vernal, Ut.-On 8/3/23, Officer Ross responded to the Silver Pines apartment complex and spoke with the complainant and the victim. The complainant said the victim called him, saying she needed help because 23-year-old Cutter D. Boren would not leave her apartment.

When the complainant arrived, he saw the victim sitting in the fetal position while Cutter was yelling at her.

The victim stated her relationship with Cutter had been on and off for about a year and a half. This incident started when the victim arrived home after work, where Cutter met her inside her apartment, drinking. They began arguing and told Cutter, "I want you to leave" and " I don't want you here" multiple times, but Cutter wouldn't leave.

The victim stated that Cutter has not slept at the apartment in over a month and has been staying with family. The victim was sitting on the floor across from the bathroom when Cutter threw a couple of his prescription bottles at her but missed.

Officer Ross spoke with Cutter, who was having difficulty sitting up straight, speaking, and couldn't maintain sentence structure or keep his train of thought. The Officer could smell a strong odor of alcohol coming from Cutter's person when he spoke.

Cutter stated he had drank 2-3 shots of Vodka and then changed it to 5-7 shots. Cutter was taken to the hospital for medical clearance by ambulance.

While at the hospital, Cutter fell forward, and Officer Ross had to physically assist him to avoid any injury from falling. Cutter was placed in handcuffs and escorted to the Uintah County Jail.

While at the jail, Cutter provided a breath sample from a portable breath tester by jail staff. The results of the test were .310 breath alcohol content (BrAC).
