Officer Arnold responded to a report of a domestic violence incident at 158 East 800 South at the Stoneridge Apartments.
Dispatch advised the officer that the complainant's ex, 20-year-old Kaeleigh Lucia Garcia, was arguing with the complainant and hit him in the face, broke his phone, and pushed him while he was holding his 8-month-old child.
Dispatch advised that the complainant had his child with him and believed Kaeleigh was still in Apt. 5.
Officer Bellon arrived on the scene just before Officer Arnold and began speaking to the complainant. When Officer Arnold arrived on the scene, he located Kaeleigh and began speaking with her. He asked Kaeleigh what had happened, and she explained to him that she and the complainant had an argument, so the complainant went to the bedroom and called another ex-girlfriend.
Kaeleigh explained that she went into the bedroom and tried to take the phone from the complainant. They started fighting, and then the complainant left to go to the neighbor's apartment. Kaeleigh also explained the circumstances of some previous encounters.
Officer Arnold spoke with the complainant, who stated they had been arguing because Kaeleigh was acting "weird," so he went to the bedroom and called his ex. The complainant said that Kaeleigh then came in, tried taking the phone from him, and began scratching him everywhere.
The complainant said he began telling his ex to call 911 when Kaeleigh took his phone and started hitting it against the wall, breaking it. The complainant then took his 8-month-old and went to the neighbor's house, where he called 911.
Officer Arnold examined the complainant and observed many visible scratches on his face and back. He also observed that his phone case and screen had been broken.
Kaeleigh was placed under arrest and transported to the Duchesne County Jail, where she was booked on the charges of assault (DV), criminal mischief (DV), interruption of a communication device (DV), and domestic violence in the presence of a child.
Kaeleigh Garcia was later released.
