| Hanna, Ut. | July 14th, 2024 |

Deputy Green was dispatched to an assault at 43000 West SR-35 in Hanna, Ut. The reporting party reported that four unknown people assaulted his son and needed an ambulance.

The complainant said 39-year-old Joshua Elias Collier didn’t want him to call the police because he had been smoking marijuana.

Upon the deputy's arrival, they met with Joshua and his father. Joshua was bruised and swollen in the face and complaining of pain in his ribs.

Joshua said he invited himself onto a property up the road because he heard music. He stated that the party of four stated that he was unwelcome. They followed him off the property and beat him up on the road.

The deputies asked Joshua to describe them. He said that there were two males and two females around the ages of 18 to 25. Joshua was seen medically by EMS and stated that he consumed eight beers. Joshua stated that the other party was in campers just up the road, and his family pointed out the campers.

The deputies then went to interview the other party. When they arrived, the gate was locked. The deputies drove to the side next to the campers and climbed over the fence.

A deputy knocked on the door of one of the campers, and a male answered. He stated he didn't see what happened but was told a strange male came over and assaulted one of the girls. The male pointed to another camper where the party was.

The deputies knocked on the other camper, and a female answered the door. They told her why they were there, and she stated that she didn't see the fight but that one of the girls was assaulted by a strange male who was offering the party marijuana. She then woke up the other four.

The deputies then conducted separate interviews. The first interview was with a 17-year-old female that was involved. She stated they were all sitting around the campfire listening to music when they noticed a strange male approaching. The stranger asked if they wanted to smoke a bowl. The party stated that the stranger wasn't welcome on the property. They attempted to escort him off the property by nudging him.

The teenage female told Joshua to go down the road, and he turned around, grabbed her by the shoulders, and hit her in the face. She said that's when the two males and a female jumped in, and the fight started.

Deputy Green spoke with the other three individuals involved, and their stories were consistent. They stated that a strange male walked onto their private property, offered them drugs, and told them to leave multiple times. They stated that the male struck the 17-year-old girl, and then a fight started.

The deputies returned to Joshua's residence to speak with him. When going into Joshua's room, there was a strong odor of marijuana. The officers told Joshua what the other party had said, and he denied that it had occurred. The officers told Joshua that they said he offered them marijuana, and he said that he just wanted to make some friends or be friendly.

Joshua pointed the deputies to the marijuana that he had placed on the balcony. It was in a zip lock bag and contained a green leafy plant material consistent with marijuana.

Joshua Collier was arrested and transported to the hospital for medical clearance and then booked into the Duchesne County Jail. Joshua was later released.
