Uintah County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched on the report that a male had been assaulted by his brother.
When Deputy Russell arrived, he met with a male who was later identified as 61-year-old Michael (Mike) C. Collier.
Mike began telling his side of what happened, and he made it sound like his brother had been upset and taken it out on Mike. Mike stated that his brother pushed him and then punched him in the face several times before placing Mike into a chokehold.
Mike stated his brother was inside the house in the kitchen waiting for the deputy to arrive.
Deputy Russell went into the residence and spoke with Mike’s brother who is the victim in this case.
The victim stated he and his father were having a discussion when Mike entered the room. Mike became very aggressive toward the victim regarding the conversation. The victim also said Mike approached him and got so close to his face that Mike was spitting in the victim's face as he was yelling.
The victim told the deputy he tried to walk away, but Mike got even closer and then shoved the victim into a corner. The victim stated that Mike then came toward him in an aggressive manner while he was still in the corner of the room. Mike then began swinging his fists at the victim in an attempt to hit the victim.
Mike's brother said he was going to defend himself and hit Mike, and then they ended up on the floor. The victim tried to get away, but Mike was still swinging. The victim stated he then placed Mike in a choke hold only to protect himself and to keep Mike from swinging.
Mike finally calmed down enough for the victim to release Mike.
After the deputy spoke with the brothers, they both stated that their father was present for the altercation. Deputy Russell went to speak with the father, who said Mike had initiated the argument. Their father said Mike was the first to initiate the contact when he shoved the victim into the corner.
Mike Collier was arrested and transported to the Uintah County Jail.
