Duchesne County Sheriff's Office were notified of an outside fire in Fruitland.

When Deputy Davis arrived at the residence, a female stated she had seen 63-year-old Charlene Dorothy Dessaints and 20-year-old Haili Jean Swain burning items in a 50-gallon drum.

When the female stopped Charlene and Haili, Charlene ran to one of the homes, where a man in a black hat reportedly got into the car, and they fled the scene.

During the investigation, it was discovered that two houses, three campers, and three outbuildings had been entered, and items had been stolen.

The property owner was contacted, and they said no one has permission to be on the property.

Detective Duncan arrived and located Haili’s camper connected to a Coleman Generator that matched the description of the stolen generator. The detective called Haili, who said she was in Vernal and denied that the generator was hers.

Haili said she would meet with Detective Duncan but didn't show in the time frame she stated she would.

A search warrant was approved to search Haili's camper. The detective found drug paraphernalia located on the bed used by Haili in the front by the stove, two glass pipes, one with residue and one with a liquid inside.

She also found a pill bottle with a clear liquid inside that was supposed to be in tablet form and was prescribed to the victim.

Police spoke to Haili when she returned to the residence and admitted to going to the victim's residence at least three times with Charlene Dessanits and taking items that weren't theirs. Some of these include a black trailer that carries a lawnmower, household items, clothing, and other miscellaneous items.

Haili stated that a total of four people had visited the homes to take the items and that everything outside of the camper belonged to the victim, including the items placed on the bed.

Charlene admitted to removing items from the homes, stating that she was told the property was owned by a man for whom she was a caregiver and that they were taking the property because of this.

Charlene stated they only went to the residence one time, but Haili gave details of driving and walking to the residence three times. Both Haili and Charlene admitted to entering the residence and depriving the owner of his property.

Charlene Dorothy Dessaints may post bail in the amount of $10,000.00.

Haili Jean Swain is being held without bail.
