Vernal, Utah (6/16/26)—Law enforcement responded to the Silver Pines Apartment Complex regarding a theft. While investigating the theft, a woman reported a domestic violence incident that took place on May 15th, 2026.
The woman stated that she and 25-year-old Austin J. Bodily had been arguing over a previous incident from the summer of 2025. She explained to Cpl. Randall said that Austin was in their bedroom, while she stood in the hallway holding her 8-month-old child. When Austin walked out of the bedroom, she moved aside.
Austin reportedly lunged at her, grabbing her arm. She warned him, “If you don’t get your hands off me, I’m going to call the police.” He released her and left the apartment. The woman indicated that she had marks on her arm from the altercation and provided the officer with photos of the injuries.
Cpl. Randall observed a long red mark on the woman’s inner arm and a small circular red spot on her bicep. These marks appeared consistent with someone being grabbed.
Cpl. Randall asked Austin if he recalled any argument from May that stood out to him. He replied that they have occasional disagreements, but nothing notable came to mind.
The officer informed Austin of the woman's account of their argument, and Austin asked whether he had pushed her or done anything similar. He made Austin aware that he had grabbed her arm and that photos were showing a clear red mark.
Austin then questioned Cpl. Randall, asking if he meant the incident where she hit her arm and took a picture, claiming she would use that as proof of abuse. The officer clarified that the marks he saw did not match someone hitting their own arm.
Austin Bodily was arrested and taken to the Uintah County Jail, where he was booked on charges of assault (domestic violence) and domestic violence in the presence of a child.
