Roosevelt, Ut.- On 4/13/23, Officer Barton was investigating a harassment detail involving a female living in one of the trailers at 1305 West US 40 in Roosevelt, Utah.
During his investigation, he informed the female of the warrant that was issued for her arrest. The female was identified as 47-year-old Velda Marie Priebe.
Velda stated that she had proof she had paid the fine and asked if she could get the paperwork inside the residence. Officer Barton agreed. Velda entered her home, and the Officer stayed out on the front porch. He immediately smelled the odor of burnt marijuana.
Officer Barton asked how much marijuana was inside the trailer, and she said only what was in the bottle was made into a pipe to smoke the marijuana. Officer Barton saw the drug paraphernalia, and she put it on the table, and the Officer could see the marijuana on the top of the bottle.
Officer Barton asked Velda if he could search the residence and get all of the illegal narcotics and drug paraphernalia, and Velda said no. He advised her he could apply for a search warrant.
Also, during his investigation, Velda had pick marks on her arms and face. This is a sign of using more drugs than just marijuana.
The search warrant was approved, and the trailer was searched, and inside the trailer were found multiple meth pipes, a bag with a small amount of meth on the counter, and a bag of marijuana lying on the floor.
Officer Barton collected all the drugs and paraphernalia, transported Velda to the UBMC for medical clearance, and then booked her into the Duchesne County Jail for possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and the warrant.
Velda was issued a citation for harassment by an electronic device.
