Roosevelt, Ut.- On 4/17/23, around 4:00 am, RPD Officer Christensen was dispatched to a domestic violence call in Roosevelt. The complainant stated that his brother and his wife, 26-year-old Kelby Marion Daniels, had been in a physical altercation.

When Officer Christensen arrived and spoke to the husband, he detained him until he was able to figure out what was going on.

The Officer went inside the residence and spoke with Kelby, and she stated she got into a verbal argument with her husband about waking up and feeding their newborn baby. She said it was her husband's turn to feed the baby, and he had gotten upset at her for waking him up because he works in the morning.

Kelby stated her husband went and fed the baby, and they kept yelling at each other. She then said she would gather up the three kids and was leaving. Kelby then stated she could not find the car keys to leave.

Officer Christensen asked her if anything physical happened between them, and she said nothing happened. It was just verbal arguing.

Officer Christensen then spoke with the husband, and he stated he made an agreement with Kelby that in the mornings, he works the night before, and she is to take care of their newborn because he has to wake up early in the morning.

The husband stated he had to work this morning, and Kelby kept waking him up to take care of their newborn, and he did get upset that she kept waking him up. He then said he went and took care of the baby so he could go back to sleep, and when he walked back into the room, Kelby started yelling at him for getting upset.

He stated he told Kelby to shut up, and that was when Kelby slapped him on the right side of his face. Kelby's arm hit one of the kids in the head during the slap. He then told Kelby not to slap him and that her arm hit their kid.

Kelby told him hitting their kid was an accident. The husband said she didn't slap him very hard but still slapped him. He said they started yelling at each other some more, and it escalated.

Kelby walked up to him, got in his face, and slapped him a second time. He said that slap wasn't too hard, either.

The husband entered the living room to wait for the police to arrive.

Officer Christensen took pictures of the husband's face, and there was a slight redness on his cheek.

Based on what both the husband stated and what Kelby stated, and the redness on his cheek, Kelby was arrested for domestic violence.

Kelby Daniels was charged with assault and domestic violence in the presence of a child. She was transported to the UBMC for medical clearance and then to the Duchesne County Jail.
