Uintah County Deputies were dispatched to a residence where it was reported that a suspect was throwing things and took the victim's phone.

The deputies were advised that both parties had been drinking and knew law enforcement had been called.

Deputy Oldham and Deputy Roth arrived at the scene around 9:00 PM. As they walked toward the residence, a male, a female, and two children came walking out of the front door.

Deputy Roth took the female to one side of the property, and Deputy Oldham took the male to the other side by the garage.

Deputy Oldham asked the male to explain what had taken place. He began saying that he and the female had been drinking, and nothing else happened. When the deputy asked about who was throwing items across the house, the male denied throwing anything.

Deputy Roth stayed with the male while Deputy Oldham spoke with the female inside the residence.

As they made their way inside, items were lying on the floor, along with some liquid. One of the children said the liquid was from one of the beer cans the male threw.

While continuing through the residence, the female pointed down the hall where more liquid was on the floor.

Deputy Oldham then asked the female what had taken place. She began by saying that earlier in the evening, the male began to drink a gallon-sized bottle of whiskey. The female hid the bottle, and he became angry. The female stated she took the children and went for a drive.

When she returned, he became outraged and started throwing beer cans around the house along with other items. The female stated he grabbed her, removed the cell phone from her pocket, and then made the threat of breaking it so she couldn't call the police. The male then threw the phone down the hall, breaking the screen and causing internal damage.

The female began telling the deputy about prior incidents. She stated that a week before, the male punched a hole in the wall.

The female shared another incident that occurred on February 19th, 2025, where the male became angry after becoming intoxicated and threw a toy horse that was approximately 3 feet tall at the female, causing her eye to split open. When asked about reporting that incident, the female stated that she was scared and didn't even go to the hospital, just performed first aid on themselves. She said they had told multiple friends about it and had been encouraged to contact law enforcement.

The female again did not contact law enforcement. More domestic violence incidents kept getting brought up during their conversation. She also stated that at an estimated time of two months before, the male chased the older of the two children with bug spray and a lighter, threatening to light the child on fire.

The last incident that was disclosed was due to the two dogs jumping on the sliding glass door. It reminded the victim that he, at one point, attempted to have the dogs attack the female.

Deputy Oldham returned to speak with the male. He began by telling him that he needed to be honest. The deputy informed 33-year-old Taylor Mackenzie Brown that he had seen the inside of the residence and all the items he had thrown throughout the home.

Taylor admitted that he threw items, and when asked about the incident on February 19th, Taylor admitted throwing the toy horse at the female. After Taylor admitted to throwing the items and the incident on February 19th, he was placed in handcuffs.

While at the jail with Taylor, Deputy Oldham was informed of another incident between Christmas and Valentine's Day. The victim stated she and her children were sitting on the couch when Taylor pulled a gun on them.

When Deputy Oldham was told about this, he questioned Taylor about the incident. Taylor stated that it happened a long time ago, but he did pull a gun but pointed it away from the victim and the children.

Deputy Oldham then asked Taylor about the bug spray incident, and he stated that all he did was spray it and light it on fire toward his oldest child. Taylor said he wouldn't light the child on fire but was only showing the child the bug spray and lighting it on fire.

When speaking with Taylor, the deputy noticed that he began smirking. Deputy Oldham proceeded to call Taylor out for laughing and thinking all of this was funny. He finished speaking with Taylor and escorted him back to his cell.

Taylor will be referred to the county attorney for the review of the aggravated assault, aggravated child abuse, and two counts for the firearm being pulled on the victim and the two children, and aggravated child abuse due to the threat of lighting the child on fire with a lighter and bug spray.

In the probable cause report, Deputy Oldham wrote: "The current offense is a felony. There is substantial evidence to support the charge. Through clear and convincing evidence, it would constitute a substantial danger to another individual or the community, or is likely to flee the court's jurisdiction if released on bail."
