Intoxicated male chokes and slams a females head against an unknown object

By Travis Uresk

7/20/23

Roosevelt, Ut. On 7/18/23, at around 8:30 pm, Officer Arnold was dispatched to a domestic violence report near 696 South 100 East.

Dispatch advised the Officer that a third-party caller had witnessed a couple arguing and watched the male grab the female. When Officer Arnold arrived on scene, he found the victim sitting outside with visible injuries to her face and throat. She told the Officer that her husband, 47-year-old Nelson Shawn Sweat, had choked and hit her head against an object.

The police went inside the home and found Shawn trying to hide in a closet, refusing to come out. One of the Officers had to go inside the closet to arrest him.

Shawn was taken outside and told the Officers that he and the female had just been arguing, and nothing physical had happened. One of the other Officers could smell alcohol coming from Shawn’s breath.

Shawn was arrested for aggravated assault domestic violence and transported to the Uintah Basin Medical Center for medical clearance.

Officer Arnold spoke to the victim again, and she admitted that Shawn had been drinking heavily and that Shawn choked her to the point where she was struggling to breathe and had hit her head against something.

The Officer saw bruising on her neck and a red mark on her nose.

Since Shawn had been drinking and the danger he had caused to the victim, he is charged with Intoxication and Aggravated Assault. Shawn was transported to the Duchesne County Jail and booked on charges of Intoxication, and Aggravated Assault Domestic Violence.

Shawn is a really tough guy; he beats up his wife, hides in a closet from the police, and then lies about hitting her when there is obvious bruising around her neck. This violent human has a history of beating women clear back to 1996.

This person is dangerous, and women must stay away from him before he kills one of you.

If anyone is being physically abused, send me a message asking if I still have a TV for sale and give me your address and I will call the police for you. Listen to what Lt. Joe Kenda says, It doesn't get any better, and you can't change him or her.
