Roosevelt, Ut.- On 2/1/2023, around 4:00 pm, Officer Christensen was watching an apartment building at around 400 N Cottonwood Circle in Roosevelt, Utah, when he saw a male and a female get into a verbal altercation that turned into a physical altercation.
This altercation happened outside behind the townhome building, and the Officer could see they were yelling at each other. He then witnessed the female trying to walk away from the male. Then the male grabbed the female by the arm and pulled her back towards him.
When Officer Christensen arrived on the scene, the male identified himself as Jaxon Lynn Mitchell. The female is 16 years old, and Jaxon is 20 years old.
Officer Christensen split both of them up and spoke with Jaxon, and he stated the two of them got into a verbal altercation and did not want her to leave and walk away from him. Jaxon said he grabbed her by the arm, pulled her towards him, and wanted to finish the argument.
Jaxon did say he had no intention of harming the young girl. Officer Christensen asked Jaxon if he and the victim were having a sexual relationship or if they had ever been in a sexual relationship. Jaxon stated they were not in a sexual relationship.
Jaxon stated the argument started when they were both at his friend's house, and she had to leave. Jaxon stated she had just left without speaking to him. He then said he got upset at her for not talking to him, so he followed her and went and spoke with her.
The victim stated she had to leave and go home, and she had just left for home, and Jaxon got upset at her and kept following her. She said she and Jaxon got into a verbal altercation and tried to walk away, but Jaxon grabbed her arm and pulled her towards him.
Officer Christensen asked her if he hit her at all or if it was just Jaxon grabbing her arm and pulling her towards him. She stated Jaxon only grabbed her arm and pulled her towards him.
Officer Christensen then asked if she and Jaxon were in a sexual relationship, and she was hesitant about answering, and she nodded. He then asked her if it involved sex, and she stated yes.
Since the victim is a minor, Officer Christensen contacted her mother, and her mother said she wanted to press charges on Jaxon because he is 20 years old and with her 16-year-old daughter.
Officer Christensen placed Jaxon under arrest for simple assault and unlawful detention.
Jaxon Mitchell was transported to the Duchesne County Jail to be booked.
