An Intoxicated Male Gets Arrested For Putting On A Show For His Neighbors

5/18/24

| Vernal, Ut. | May 17th, 2024 |

Vernal City Officer Murray was dispatched to an interesting call near 300 West and 200 North of a couple on their front porch, causing an alarm to their next door neighbors.

The neighbors then called the police and provided written statements regarding what they heard and witnessed their neighbors having sexual intercourse out on their front porch.

When Officer Murray arrived at the residence, 39-year-old William Gabriel Yack was sitting in front of Cpl Johnstun explaining the situation.

Cpl.Johnstun stated he had witnessed William pulling his pants up as he walked up to talk to them. As William spoke with Cpl Johnstun, he said that he had been drinking. It was apparent that he had been drinking as his eyes were glassy and bloodshot, and he was displaying unnecessary confrontational behavior.

The officers believed William was under the influence of alcohol to the degree that he was a danger to himself as his speech was slurred and irregular, his demeanor was indicative of cognitive impairment, and his state of altered judgment caused him to disturb other persons unreasonably.

As the conversation continued, William was found to have a Sig Sauer 365 XL, with a bullet in the chamber and 8 additional rounds in his magazine. William was then taken into custody and placed under arrest. While at the jail, William blew a .303 BrAC on a portable breath test. William was transported to the Uintah Basin Hospital to be medically cleared.

Officer Murray determined there was probable cause to arrest William for Lewdness as he performed the act of sexual intercourse in front of the 2 neighbors and for Intoxication, as he was under the influence of alcohol to the degree that he endangered himself and others, to a public place, and unreasonably disturbed other persons.

There was also probable cause to arrest William for carrying a dangerous weapon while under the influence, as he was found to be carrying a loaded handgun while under the influence of alcohol, and for interference, as he refused to refrain from performing an act that would impede the arrest or detention, by going into the hospital bathroom to take off his belly chains, after being ordered not to.
