Officer Maughan was dispatched to a drug paraphernalia call in the area of 126 North 500 East. It was reported that the complainant had found a bag full of drug paraphernalia that they suspected belonged to 35-year-old Chance Earl Hansen.
When the officer arrived at the residence, he met with Chance outside. Officer Maughan asked Chance what happened, and he told him he had just woken up. Chase also stated that a bag of paraphernalia had been found. The officer asked Chance what kind of paraphernalia and he told him baggies of meth.
Officer Maughan asked Chance where the bag was and he said he had hidden it and showed the officer where he had placed it. Chance was asked what was in the bag, and he told the officer there were baggies but said there was no meth.
Upon the officer opening the bag, multiple tooters, one of which contained a white residue consistent with the residue left from smoking methamphetamine. In the bag, along with the tooters, three clear plastic baggies containing a white crystalline substance, methamphetamine. Chance was asked whose bag it was, and he stated that it was his.
Officer Maughan determined that there was probable cause to arrest Chance and he was transported to the Uintah County Jail.
Chance Hansen was later released.
