Naples, Ut.- On 4/30/23, Officer Cox with the Naples City Police was parked at 2500 South 500 East when he saw a truck traveling West on 2500 South fail to stop at the stop sign at 500 East.
Officer Cox caught up to the truck and made a traffic stop at 250 East 2500 South. The driver was identified as 26-year-old Gregory Lee Augustus. The Officer recognized the male's name from an incident that occurred two days prior in Vernal City and knew he was wanted for an aggravated assault case. The vehicle also showed expired tags on 11/2022 and no insurance.
Officer Cox then advised Vernal City Police that he was out with Gregory and Sgt. Watt arrived at the traffic stop to assist in placing him into custody due to Gregory's history of resisting arrest. Officer Cox approached the truck and told Gregory to exit. He refused and asked why.
Gregory was told multiple times to exit his vehicle, and he started to roll up his window on the Officer. Officer Cox held the window down, and Gregory put his truck into drive and took off at a high rate of speed.
Officer Cox notified dispatch that Gregory fled the scene and advised that he was in pursuit. Gregory continued west on 2500 South hitting speeds over 90 mph in a 35 mph zone. Gregory ran the stop sign at Vernal Avenue 1500 West.
Gregory continued at a high rate of speed and went South towards the end of 1500 West, where the road turned to dirt.
Gregory crashed his truck into a hill and some bushes around 4500 South 1500 West. Gregory was ordered at gunpoint to exit the wrecked truck. Eventually, he exited the vehicle, and Officer Cox placed him in handcuffs.
Gregory Lee Augustus was transported to the hospital for medical clearance and booked into the Uintah County Jail for felony evading, reckless driving with willful and wanton disregard for public safety, operating a vehicle without insurance and valid registration, and driving on a denied license.
Vernal, Ut.- On 4/28/23, Officer Elmer responded to a disorderly with other Officers. During the investigation, the nature of the call changed to domestic violence aggravated assault due to Gregory Lee Augustus grabbing a kitchen knife and chasing the victim through the house with the knife after threatening to stab the victim.
Gregory chased the victim to his bedroom and attempted to get inside the bedroom, where the victim had to hold the door shut, and he could hear the knife drag across the door.
Later during the investigation, when trying to contact Gregory outside the residence he refused to talk to law enforcement and locked himself inside the residence. Officers attempted to make contact over the phone, and Gregory became vulgar over the phone with the Officers and then hung up.
On 4/30/23, Gregory was taken into custody by Naples Police, where Officer Elmer responded to the scene where a Naples Officer and Officer Elmer arrested Gregory and took him to jail.
Gregory was booked into jail and charged with domestic violence aggravated assault for making a threat, accompanied by a show of immediate force or violence, to do bodily injury to a family member, along with Obstruction of Justice for the intent to hinder, delay, or prevent the investigation by not talking with law Enforcement Officers preventing the completion of the investigation during the time of the incident.
They are hoarders, filthy white trash. The sons have no respect for women and with a mother and father like that they are irresponsible and worthless. They have both already spent time incarcerated but they believe they are above the law. As tax payers we are paying for their crimes.
