Surveillance footage shows the suspect in aisle eleven concealing items where empty boxes were later found. The male then leaves the basket near the front counter and exits the store without paying for the merchandise.

The stolen items on this day included:

DeWalt Flex Volt Battery

DeWalt 20V Battery Adaptor

DeWalt 20V Two-Pack Battery

Upon receiving tips from the public identifying the suspect as 32-year-old Joseph Allen Keel.

On June 3, 2025, Detective Kearney interviewed Keel at the UBMC. During the interview, Keel admitted to stealing the battery packs, a wrench set, and the 28-piece tool set from Ace Hardware because he was “hard up” for money.

Joseph stated that he had sold the items and no longer had them, and he had plans to return to the store and steal again, but he didn't.

At the time of the arrest, Keel had three active no-bail warrants issued out of the 8th District Court in Duchesne County, Utah.
