Roosevelt, Ut.- On 3/31/23, Officer Barton with the RPD was patrolling 300 East and saw three people walking West. When he got closer, he noticed one male not following the other two on the one side of the camp trailer.
The man was walking on the other side and stopped and began peeking around the camp trailer toward the Officer, trying to hide.
Officer Barton stopped to talk with the male and female that was with the suspicious male, and they told him that the other male had warrants for his arrest. The Officer was given false information but was able to find out who the man was.
The camp trailer was unlocked, and Officer Barton spoke with the owner and was given consent to search it. Just before searching the camper, the Officer saw two garbage cans tipped over.
Officer Barton looked in the garbage can and found the male hiding in one of the garbage cans. The man was identified as 38-year-old Jeremiah Hoss Hodges. Jeremiah had four warrants out for his arrest.
When the Officer leaned over to assist Jeremiah out of the garbage can, he noticed a clear plastic bag with suspected methamphetamine inside.
Jeremiah was arrested, and Officer Barton took possession of the bag of meth next to the garbage cans. Jeremiah stated that the bag of meth wasn't his.
During the search of Jeremiah's person, a torch was found that is used to smoke methamphetamine.
Jeremiah was taken to the UBMC, medically cleared, then taken to the Duchesne County Jail and booked for possession of a controlled substance, drug paraphernalia, and the four state-wide warrants.
