Vernal, Ut.- On January 25th, 2023, Sgt Cheshire was dispatched to the Ashley Regional Medical Center Emergency Room on a report that a female walked in and said she was the victim of a domestic assault.
When the Sgt arrived at the hospital, he met with the female, identified as 35-year-old Dawnell Leigh Boyer.
Dawnell stated two males at her home had assaulted her. She went on to say one male pinned her arms behind her while the other male punched her.
During Dawnell's statement, she said the argument started because one of the men had taken a portable heater away from her, so she grabbed a broom and "took after him."
Dawnell said while she had the broom, one male pushed her and pinned her arms behind her back, while the other male punched her in the head.
Sgt Cheshire told Dawnell, based on her statements. She appeared to be the primary aggressor because she attempted to assault the male with a broom because he took the portable heater away from her.
Dawnell told the Sgt the two men had a video they took and threatened to turn it over to the police. The two men were not at the hospital, and the Sgt would continue his investigation. He told Dawnell she could be an offender, as well as the other two involved.
It was reported that Dawnell had no physical injuries that could be photographed, but she complained of shoulder and head pain.
Sgt Cheshire contacted the two men, who agreed to meet at the hospital. During the meeting with the two males, they stated they were assaulted by Dawnell the night before and this morning.
The men then provided numerous videos of Dawnell swinging a broom at the both of them while yelling at her "to stop."
One of the males is seen using the heater to block the broom strikes, and Dawnell is able to swing around the heater and hit the male on his right leg. Dawnell then turns around and swings at the other male recording the incident.
Both men on the video tell Dawnell to "just stop," and Dawnell yells, "no."
Both men sustained minor injuries.
There was also another video of Dawnell where she broke a flat-screen television. This occurred while she was breaking numerous items in the house.
During the incident, there was a 5-year-old child in the home.
Dawnell was placed under arrest and transported to the Uintah County Jail, where she was booked on two counts of domestic violence assault, domestic violence in the presence of a child, and criminal mischief.
