A Drunk Woman Walks Into The Wrong Yard

4/1/24

Vernal — On March 25th, 2024, it was reported that an unknown female was in the complainant’s yard after being asked to leave.

The female then went around the house and sat down in the backyard. The complainant stated that the female was acting to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

When Officer Elmer and other officers arrived in the area, they were informed that the unknown female started walking westbound away from the residence through an open field.

Officer Elmer saw the female wearing a black hoodie and black leggings walking toward 150 South Vernal Ave, where the officer met her.

The female was identified as 33-year-old Cassandra Patricia Rock. While Officer Elmer talked with Cassandra, she couldn't tell the officer where she lived. When asked what was going on, she stated, "Everything," then spaced out, saying the name "Manning," then began to tear up.

Cassandra was also unable to hold still and focus on the conversation, making repetitive movements and constantly looking around, seeming paranoid. When asked if she had taken any controlled substances, she denied taking anything several times.

Cassandra's AP&P agent showed up on scene and requested that Cassandra be transported to the Uintah County Jail to be placed on a 72-hour hold. While there, she told jail staff that she had used meth and had been drinking alcohol earlier that morning.

Cassandra was charged with being under the influence of a controlled substance to the degree that she did not know where she was or going, making her a danger to herself.
