UHP Troopers were called to a welfare check on SR-121 near milepost 20.
Trooper Watt arrived on the scene and was waved down by a female in the driver's seat of a Chevy Trailblazer, who was identified as 36-year-old Aleice Collins.
Aleice's eyes were bloodshot and smelled of alcohol, and she was extremely emotional. She told the trooper she had been drinking and using marijuana. Trooper Ryan asked Aleice if she had driven to this location, and she stated yes.
At the conclusion of the tests, the troopers felt that she was to impaired to operate a vehicle safely and was placed under arrest for DUI.
During an impound inventory, a pink water bottle containing a drinkable amount of liquid was located. The liquid had an odor consistent with alcohol, and a marijuana vape pen was located on the passenger seat.
The pen didn’t have a prescription label or markings indicating it came from a Utah dispensary. Aleice has a Utah medical marijuana card, but due to the vape pen not being in a prescription form, she violates the medical card.
Aleice was transported to the hospital, where she consented to a blood draw. Afterwards she was transported to the Uintah County Jail.
At the jail, she consented to an Intoxilyzer breath test. The test results indicated a BAC of 0.09.
Aleice Collins was booked into Uintah County Jail for DUI, drinking alcohol in a vehicle, and a medical marijuana card violation.
Aleice made very concerning comments to the jail staff. For this reason, a mental health evaluation was conducted.
