| Vernal, Ut. | December 4th, 2024 |

A Detective with the Vernal City Police Department was notified of an individual who was taken to the Ashley Regional Medical Center around December 1st, 2024. The male victim remained in ICU for several days, receiving treatment.

Officer Maughan informed Detective White that he had spoken with a witness who stated the victim's wife 58-year-old Keri Denise Kelsey/Boren told them she had crushed up Trazodone and put it in her husband’s drink in an effort to kill him.

The detective talked with several witnesses who stated that Keri put pills in the victim’s drinks the night before he was found in medical distress requiring him to be transported to the hospital.

One witness said they were at Keri's home, and they confronted her about putting drugs in her husband's drinks. The witness reported Keri admitted to them that she did put some of her family members' medication in her husband's alcohol bottles to help him sleep.

Detective White spoke to the victim, who said Keri made him at least two drinks the night before he was taken to the hospital. He stated he began drinking alcohol that afternoon, and shortly thereafter, "things started getting way weird."

The victim explained that he didn't consume more alcohol than what he typically drinks, and he felt that this time, it was different.

On 12/4/24, Detective Gardenheir and Detective White conducted an interview with Keri at the VPD. During that interview, Keri admitted that she crushed up approximately five prescription medication pills and put them in the victim's Jagermeister.

Keri stated that she did that in hopes he would consume the Jagermeister and the medication she had put inside the bottle. Keri admitted that she put the prescription medication in the alcohol bottle while her husband was outside so he wouldn't see her do it.

Keri also admitted that, after she put the crushed prescription medication in the victim's drink while she was leaving the residence for the night, she told a friend of hers that she put the medication in the beverage and stated, "Maybe the fucker will die this time."

Keri described the medication as a prescription blood pressure medication that was used for anxiety, and she previously gave the victim two of the same pills to the victim, which he stated took willingly in an attempt to get some sleep.

Keri was taken into custody and transported to the Uintah County Jail for the charge of surreptitious administration of certain substances for having surreptitiously caused an individual to unknowingly consume or receive the administration of a controlled substance or prescription drug, a Third Degree Felony.

Keri Denise Kelsey is being held without bail.
