VPD Respond To A Call Of An Intoxicated Male Who Had Passed Out In The Bathroom

Vernal City Police responded to a call of an intoxicated male at 342 South 1350 West who had passed out on the toilet for almost an hour.

When officers arrived at the address and knocked on the door, they heard a crash coming from inside the apartment. Other officers arrived and entered the apartment and were met by the male, 28-year-old Caleb Christian Pemberton, who was stumbling and had to use the door frame to hold himself up.

Caleb had a red mark on his head. When asked about it, he mumbled, "It was from the toilet."

When Caleb was asked how much he had to drink, he would only say the word "Toyhead."

According to the affidavit, Caleb tried to push past the officers, so he was placed in handcuffs and escorted to a patrol truck because he was too intoxicated to maintain his own balance down the stairs.

A witness inside the apartment informed one of the officers that Caleb had been passed out on the toilet for approximately an hour. The witness also Officers that Caleb had started to get verbally aggressive, causing her to be afraid and that Caleb had come to her residence due to him getting into fights with a group that he had been drinking with earlier.

Caleb was transported to the Uintah Basin ER, where he became belligerent. While walking into the ER, he started to yell and continued to yell after being told to stop. He also tried to stop the officers from taking him into one of the hospital rooms by not walking. Again, Caleb was told to stop his behavior, but he refused.

Caleb then attempted to push the officers, and while the officers were trying to regain control, Caleb fell, hitting his head on the wall.

Caleb continued to be belligerent, yelling and swearing after being told to stop.

While at the Emergency Room, Caleb continually attempted to get up from the hospital bed after being told to stop. Caleb continued to yell and scream vulgar language where others could hear it, even with the door to his room closed. After being medically cleared, Caleb was transported to the Uintah County Jail to be booked on his charges.

While at the jail, Caleb put his hand into a fist, appearing to attempt to hit a deputy. When the deputy went to gain control of Caleb, he pushed the deputy. When several deputies put Caleb into a cell, he attempted to elbow one of the deputies in the head.

Caleb Pemberton was arrested and booked on the charges of assault by a Prisoner, interfering with an arresting officer, intoxication, and disorderly conduct.
