Vernal Man Arrested For Interfering With A Police Investigation

6/23/24

| Vernal, Ut. | June 20th, 2024 |

During the investigation, the police contacted the registered owner of a vehicle involved in a hit-and-run. She said she sold the vehicle to 28-year-old Caleb Christian Lee Pemberton last November.

The vehicle was located at 60 North 1100 West, where the VIN numbers matched the vehicle's license plate given at the hit and run.

The police arrived at the address to try and meet with Caleb about why his vehicle was in a hit-and-run on Monday, June 17th, 2024.

When questioned about the hit-and-run incident, Caleb initially claimed he didn't know who had borrowed his truck. When pressed about the last person to borrow the vehicle, Caleb maintained his uncertainty. This continued denial about the truck's borrower four days ago led to the conclusion that Caleb was withholding information from the police.

At this time, it was determined that Caleb was interfering with the investigation by not telling the police who had borrowed his truck four days ago. Caleb had also registered the vehicle to himself after the hit-and-run incidents.

Caleb was placed into handcuffs and secured into the patrol vehicle. He was then transported to the Uintah County Jail to be booked for Interference with a peace officer, a class B misdemeanor.

Caleb Christian Lee Pemberton may post bail in the amount of $690.00.
