RPD and Duchesne County Sheriff Deputies searched for a female who cut off her ankle monitor

By Travis Uresk

Roosevelt, Ut.-On 7/30/23, around 10:00 pm, Deputy Hargis received information that 21-year-old Aja Dakota Jaeger had removed her ankle monitor and had left her residence.

Aja was released on 7/30/23 to participate in the Duchesne County Sheriff’s Office pretrial release ankle monitor program.

Deputy Hargis and RPD responded to 1305 West Hwy 40 to see if Aja was staying in a fifth-wheel trailer with Shane Dixon.

On 7/30/23, several Officers assisted with a court probation compliance check and had reason to believe that a recent escapee was staying in a camp trailer located at 1305 West Highway 40.

Deputy Hargis knocked on the door, and the tenant of the trailer, 31-year-old Shane Daniel Dixon, opened the door. The Deputy asked Shane if the individual they were looking for was there, and Shane denied that Aja was there.

Officers then located Aja hiding in the bathroom with no ankle monitor on. Aja was arrested for escaping the custody charge and transported to the Duchesne County Jail.

After searching the trailer, Shane was advised of his Miranda rights and agreed to speak with the police. Shane said that his room in the trailer was in the back with the mini-fridge.

Cpl. Harrison asked Shane why he told the police the wanted subject wasn’t there. Shane replied, “Cause she’s my girl.”

Cpl. Harrison asked Shane if he knew he could get into trouble for hiding a wanted person, and he said, “Yes.”

While searching during the compliance check, the Officers found a butterfly knife in the room that Shane stays in, and there was also some bear spray found in his room. Shane is a restricted person, a felon, and also restricted by his court probation requirements.

Shane was transported to the Duchesne County Jail and booked without incident.
