5/23/23
Roosevelt, Ut.-On 5/5/23, Deputy Reed met with a female victim at the victim's advocate office in Roosevelt. The victim stated on 4/5/23, her boyfriend, 26-year-old Michael Myron Slaugh, had been abusing her in front of her 1-year-old daughter.
The victim told the Deputy they got into an argument that started in their bedroom. The victim said she puts her child in another room when they start to argue. On this day, she tried to put her daughter in another room, but Michael stood in front of the door and wouldn't let the child out.
Michael grabbed the victim and started pushing her backward toward the bed, she hit the bed, landing on her back, and Michael laid on her with all his weight so she couldn't get up.
Michael then put his hands around her neck, squeezing, cutting off her airway so she couldn't breathe. The victim stated it felt like it was approximately five minutes that he had his hands around her neck, and it got to the point where she was struggling to breathe, so she spit in his face and started hitting Michael, trying to get free.
Michael finally let her go, got off her, and told her to leave. She began to pack her items in garbage bags so she could take her daughter and leave. While she was packing, Michael was yelling and calling her derogatory names. The victim eventually left with her daughter.
The victim stated she didn’t report this at the time “because she felt bad for Michael because he has had a hard life.”
On 5/4/23, she and Michael got into another argument, nothing physical this time, but Michael told the victim and her child to get out. The victim left and went to her mother's.
On 5/5/23, The victim went to the Victim’s Advocate to report the abuse.
The victim stated that they have had several arguments over the year, and the abuse has gradually worsened.
Michael is currently on probation with Roosevelt City.
Michael was located on 5/5/23 at a ranch where he works and arrested at 12:40 pm and transported to the Duchesne County Jail.
