Another sex offender arrested for registry violation

On 10/11/25, Officer Webb performed a records check on a car matching the description of a vehicle of interest.

It was found not to be the car the police were looking for. Dispatch radioed back to the officer, saying the vehicle was registered to 44-year-old Coty John Porter, who Officer Webb knew was on the sex offender registry.

The officer looked at the registry and saw Coty is currently listed as non-compliant, and for failure to register his address.

Due to the officer's prior cases with Coty, she knew the general area of where he lived. O

On October 12^th, 2025, Officer Webb drove around the area and found the vehicle that had been checked the day before parked in a driveway at a residence. The officer saw Coty on the front porch, so she stopped her patrol vehicle and told Coty why she was there.

Officer Webb told Coty that he was under arrest and would be taken to jail. He gathered a few items, placed Coty in handcuffs, and transported him to the Uintah County Jail without incident.

Because Coty's location is unknown on the registry, and his last known address was in Dutch John, he has been at his current location in Vernal at least since October 2024.

One company has employed Coty since at least October 2024, and the registry currently shows his employer as the Flaming Gorge Resort. This offense is a felony because the degree of offense that placed him on the registry is a felony.
