On 10/9/24, Vernal City Police Officer Webb responded to an agency assist call at the Uintah County Jail, where she met with Deputy Pratt and Deputy Russell and was informed that a male victim stated he was assaulted in the parking lot of Davis Food and Drug.
The victim said earlier in the day, he was in the car with 41-year-old April Marie Patrick when she started to punch him in the side of the face. He also said April had hit him in the elbow with a white baseball bat.
While Officer Webb spoke to the victim, he later said he couldn’t remember if he was hit with the bat at the grocery store or at April’s camper.
Officer Webb called April, who stated she did pick up the victim and take him to Davis Food and Drug. April added that there was no argument or physical fight between the two in the parking lot.
April agreed to meet the officer at West End Laundromat & Cleaners, 933 West Hwy 40, where Officer Webb obtained a witness statement from April.
Officer Webb watched the video surveillance from Davis Food and Drug, which showed April and the victim pulling into the parking lot. Once the vehicle comes to a stop, the two appear to be talking when the victim is seen leaning away from April, putting his hands up in a defensive blocking manner, and his head is seen moving in and out of the open car window as if he is being struck. During this time, there is aggressive movement in the driver's seat, and the vehicle can be seen rocking back and forth.
The officer attempted to contact April to discuss the new findings in the video, and April said she would call Officer Webb back that night, but April never called.
The victim told Officer Webb that April had come to his house that evening and yelled at him for calling the police, and the police were now looking for her.
On 10/20/24, Cpl Ross saw April walking out of Davis Food and Drug. Officer Webb approached April in the parking lot, where she again denied that anything had happened.
April was placed into handcuffs and transported to the Uintah County Jail.
