During A Multi-Month Investigation, UBNSF Uncovered Cash, Drugs, And Weapons

Uintah County, Ut.- On 2/26/23, UBNSF Agents obtained a search warrant for a residence in the Lapoint, Utah area. This warrant pertained to the possession/sales of illegal drugs and the possession of dangerous weapons by a category II restricted person.

On 2/27/23, at 8:00 am, the UBNSF Agents executed the search warrant. A male was on the front porch when they arrived at the Lapoint residence. He entered the home and shut the door. The Agents entered the home behind him and made contact with the male, who was identified as 61-year-old Shayne Dee Rich. Shayne was detained and placed in handcuffs immediately.

In the bedroom behind Shayne was a large Samurai sword lying on the bed.

Two Agents were in the back of the home while the other Agents entered the front. One of the Agents in the back of the house saw a male's arm throw a garbage of items into the yard and land in the snow.

An Agent opened the bag and saw a .36 caliber black powder revolver (which was loaded and capped), a plastic bag with 157 blue fentanyl pills, a plastic bag with 88.4 grams of heroin, a plastic bag with 21 grams of methamphetamine, and a glass bong with methamphetamine residue.

A search of the residence also yielded several different notebooks with ledgers of what appeared to be drug transactions.

In the kitchen was a plastic bag with 4.2 grams of heroin on the stove and a piece of tin foil with burn marks near the refrigerator. In the living room were several items of drug paraphernalia, including baggies, scales, and pipes. A large amount of cash was also found in the living room, around $7,000.

Shayne's bedroom had a black safe on a shelf.

Inside the safe was psilocybin mushrooms, a baggy containing methamphetamine, a baggy containing 6 hydrocodone (Schedule II)pills, a baggy containing 1 Dilaudid (Schedule II) pill, a baggy containing 4 pink oxycodone hydrochloride (Schedule II) pills, a plastic container containing 1 yellow diazepam (Schedule IV) pill, and several paraphernalia items; including baggies and scales. Also located in Shayne's room was 1 amphetamine/dextroamphetamine (Schedule II) pill located in the dresser.

While searching Shayne's room, Agents located two Asian-styled daggers, one large bayonet knife, and the Samurai sword.


Shayne was transported to the Uintah County Jail and booked in for the following charges: Possession with Intent to Distribute- Heroin (w/priors), Possession with Intent to Distribute Methamphetamine (w/priors), Possession with Intent to Distribute- Fentanyl/Schedule II (w/priors), Possession of a Dangerous Weapon by a Category II restricted Person, Possession of a Schedule I/II Controlled Substance Psilocybin Mushrooms (w/priors), Possession of a Schedule I/II Controlled Substance- Hydrocodone (w/priors), Possession of a Schedule I/II Controlled Substance- Dilaudid (w/priors), Possession of a Schedule I/II Controlled Substance- Oxycodone Hydrochloride (w/priors), Possession of a Schedule I/II Controlled Substance Amphetamine/Dextroamphetamine (w/priors), Possession of a Schedule IV Controlled Substance- Diazepam (w/priors), and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

The Uintah Basin Narcotic Strike Force (UBNSF) is a multi-jurisdictional drug task force that consists of members from the Vernal City Police Department, Uintah County Sheriff's Office, Naples City Police Department, Duchesne County Sheriff's Office, the Roosevelt City Police Department.

“The strike force is extremely concerned about the presence of fentanyl being distributed within our community," the release said. "Fentanyl is a synthetic opioid, and exposure to the drug is dangerous and potentially deadly.

“If you have information about fentanyl or other illegal narcotics, please contact the Uintah Basin secret witness/tip line at (435) 789-8888."


Shayne Dee Rich is being held with bond in the amount of $15,000




Upon entry to the home, Agents made contact with 42-year-old Marcia Ann Huber in the bathroom. Huber was detained and handcuffed.

While searching Marcia's person, the agents found a small glass pipe containing suspected methamphetamine in her front left pant pocket. During the search of the residence, a bag with Marcia's personal belongings was found. Inside that bag was a plastic bong with methamphetamine residue.

Marcia was transported to the Uintah County Jail, where she was booked for possession of meth and drug paraphernalia.


Marcia is being held on bail in the amount of $2,500
