AP&P Agent Broadbent contacted Det. Hunter regarding one of his probationers, 32-year-old Tausha Yvonne Brandt. The agent had found evidence on Tausha’s cellphone showing she was trying to buy illegal drugs.
Tausha had arrived at Agent Broadbent's office around 9:00 am to check in and have a UA performed.
Agent Broadbent asked Det. Hunter to assist with a probation check at Tausha's home in Duchesne City, Utah. Upon arriving, the officers met with Tausha and her boyfriend, 36-year-old Nickolas Kent Allred. The officers asked both of them if there were any illegal substances inside the home, and they both stated there were.
Nick took the officers inside and showed them where the illegal narcotics were located. There, they found 15 fentanyl pills in a small baggie under Nick’s pillow. Nick also provided multiple boxes of drug paraphernalia.
Det. Hunter contacted Cpl. Davis who is one of the Duchesne County Sheriff's Office's K-9 officers'. CPL. Davis responded with his K-9 to assist with the search of the house. The K-9 indicated on the dresser inside the bedroom. Upon searching the dresser several more containers of drug paraphernalia were found.
Tausha and Nick were both read their Miranda rights and agreed to speak with the officers. Nick stated he had smoked Fentanyl at approximately 8:30 am that morning, and Tausha stated after her clean UA meeting with Agent Broadbent she returned home and used Fentanyl.
Most of the paraphernalia boxes contained small baggies that are typically used to distribute Illegal narcotics. Both Tausha and Nick were given a UA at the jail. Tausha was positive for Fentanyl. Nick was positive for Fentanyl, Methamphetamine, and Amphetamines.
Based on the number of Fentanyl pills located, along with a large number of baggies, it was suspected that Nick had been distributing illegal narcotics.
Both of Tausha's children were currently living in the home, but were with their grandparents for the day. It was suspected that the children have been inside the home when the illegal narcotics are being used, and have access to them. Nick stated that he and Tausha had purchased the Fentanyl pills on July 8th, 2024, from a dealer in the Salt Lake Valley.
The Detective returned to the Sheriff's office to begin photographing the evidence that was seized at the scene. Inside the boxes of paraphernalia, were 4 syringes loaded with a brown liquid consistent with Heroin. Also located was marijuana DAB, and two small baggies which contained psilocybin mushrooms. Inside another container was a rubber holder which a presumptive drug test was conducted, and it tested positive for methamphetamine.
Det. Hunter also found prescription pills inside one of the small baggies. The pills were identified using the drugs.com website and found to be oxycodone hydrochloride, clonazepam, lorazepam, and 1 additional Fentanyl pill.
Tausha and Nick were transported to the Duchesne County Jail without incident.
