Duchesne County man charged with three counts of child abuse

On April 9th, 2025, three alleged juvenile victims of child abuse were brought into the Split Mountain Youth Detention Center in Vernal due to being reported as runaways.
The children were then brought to the Children’s Justice Center to be interviewed.
Victim #1 talked about a time when 40-year-old Jesse Colt Jensen threw victim #3 to the ground and put them in a headlock. Victim #3 tried to leave, but Mr. Jensen continued to be aggressive and wouldn't let them.
Victim #1 also disclosed an event where Mr. Jensen was upset with Victim #2 because they did not clean up a small mess from the fireplace. Victim #1 said that Mr. Jensen grabbed Victim #2 and assaulted them. Victim #1 said that Victim #2 stated her head hurt quite badly afterward.
Victim #1 talked about an event on prom night where they were in the car at home, and Victim #1 was on the phone with their boyfriend. Mr. Jensen told them to get out of the vehicle. Victim #1 stated that they told him they were saying good night and would get out of the car shortly. Mr. Jensen leaned in and grabbed Victim #1, where they both lost their balance and fell to the ground.
Victim #1 said they were very upset and, upon entering the home, went downstairs and hit the banister. Victim #1 mentioned to Mr. Jensen and his wife that they thought they had broken their hand, and they refused to take Victim #1 to the hospital.
Mr. Jensen kicked Victim #1 out of the house that night and told them not to come back. Victim #1 also disclosed that Mr. Jensen would throw their keys down the stairs and then push Victim #1 down the stairs to get the keys. Victim #1 disclosed that Mr. Jensen was drunk during most of these events.
Victim #1 disclosed that Mr. Jensen had kicked them out several times.
Victim #1 disclosed that Mr. Jensen had gone into rehab last year for alcohol and was released around November of 2024. Victim #1 stated that recently, due to some problems, he had started drinking again, and when he drinks, he becomes violent.
The detective asked victim #1 if they felt safe around Mr. Jensen, and they stated no.
Victim #2 disclosed the incident where Mr. Jensen assaulted them for spilling ash from the fireplace on the stairs and making their head hurt. Victim #2 said that Mrs. Jensen has been present for these events and does not help the children at all.
Victim #2 advised that they saw Mr. Jensen yank Victim #1 out of the car on prom night but didn't see how Victim #1 got to the ground. Victim #2 said Mrs. Jensen saw the bruises. Victim #2 disclosed that Mr. Jensen was drunk during these events as well.
Victim #2 disclosed that Mr. Jensen kicked them out of the house the following Monday when Victim #2 and Victim #3 told him they were concerned about Victim #1. Victim #2 said Mr. Jensen told them not to return because the doors would be locked.
When Mr. Jensen kicked the victims out of their home, he did not make any arrangements for their wellbeing. He shut off the service to Victim #1's cellphone and did not provide any money for food, shelter, Etc.
Victim #3 disclosed that Mr. Jensen's work friend sent him home from work recently because he was too drunk to work, and the friend was afraid the boss would find out.
Victim #3 also disclosed that the weekend before the prom incident, Mr. Jensen had become convinced that his wife was cheating on him, and he was going to leave the home with a loaded handgun to go to the male's home and kill him. His family stopped him before he left the house.
Mr. Jensen was heavily intoxicated while these things occurred.
