A Uintah County Deputy was parked at 1100 N 1500 W, running radar for speeding vehicles. A white passenger car, speeding toward the deputy at 45 mph in a 35 mph zone, passed by.
The deputy got behind the vehicle, and the car began to gain speed. Deputy Anderton activated his overhead emergency lights and got closer to the vehicle to attempt a traffic stop.
The white car turned down a driveway. As they passed, the driver looked directly at the deputy, yelling something as he continued down the driveway.
With the deputy on its tail, the vehicle came to a stop behind a house, and the driver jumped out. He began walking toward the deputy's patrol vehicle, aggressively shaking his finger.
As Deputy Anderton stepped out of his vehicle, he could hear the male demand that he leave his property.
The deputy explained to the man that he was trying to stop him for speeding and asked for his driver's license. The man refused to give the deputy any information.
A woman living at the residence stated that the man was 46-year-old Bennie Hartley Nevings.
Dispatch ran a search on Bennie, and the search returned that he had an expired Utah driver's license and showed he had moved. It also revealed that Bennie had a Colorado driver's license that had been revoked.
A short time later, dispatch returned with information that Bennie Nevings had a warrant for his arrest out of Vernal City Justice Court.
Bennie Hartley Nevings may post bail in the amount of $1,160.00.
