An Elderly Man Arrested For Walking Into Someone's Garage In The Middle Of The Night To “Spray Bugs”

Uintah County Sheriff's Office was dispatched to a report that an elderly man between the ages of 60 and 70 had walked into the complainant's garage.

When Deputy Russell arrived on the scene, he observed a male on his hands and knees in front of the complainant's residence. The male was later identified as 62-year-old Wade Alan Simonton. While the deputy was speaking with Wade, he noticed his speech was very slow and that he wasn't making much sense of what he was trying to say.

Deputy Russell asked Wade why he was at the residence. Wade stated that his old boss had set him up with a job at this house, but Wade couldn't provide his boss's name. Wade was asked if it would be considered odd to have someone show up at ten o'clock at night to clean a driveway, and Wade agreed.

The complainant stated that the garage door was open when the male walked in, telling them he was there to kill bugs. She asked the male to leave, but he wouldn't. She then told him to leave, or she was going to call someone to make him leave.

Deputy Ogle assisted Wade into the backseat of his patrol vehicle and informed Deputy Russell that Wade had admitted to using methamphetamine recently, which was consistent with the way Wade was acting.

Deputy Russel went to speak with Wade, sitting in the patrol vehicle, about why he was arrested. It was explained to Wade that he would be taken to jail for criminal trespass of a dwelling and intoxication.

Wade was then taken to Uintah County Jail by Deputy Ogle.
