An 18-year-old male breaks into his neighbor's home to steal their marijuana

On Monday, February 9^th, 2026, Deputy Russell was dispatched to a burglary that occurred around 1:30 in the morning.

The Deputy arrived on scene and met with the homeowners, who explained that she had a medical marijuana card, and the neighbor, 18-year-old Taylor Davis Winters, knew where she kept her marijuana inside the home.

The Deputy asked them to walk him through the burglary as best as they could. The husband began walking the Deputy through what he had observed that morning. He began by saying that the dogs in the house started barking, so he got out of bed to see why.

He made his way into the kitchen, where he encountered Taylor. He asked Taylor what he was doing, to which Taylor replied that he was looking for the juvenile who lived in the home's basement.

The husband told the Deputy that he then went downstairs, checked the back door, which was still locked, and found a window open. The husband then checked where they kept their marijuana and found that it was gone. He approached Taylor and asked where it was, and Taylor admitted that he had the marijuana in his pocket and gave it back to the homeowner.

Deputy Russell then spoke with Taylor and read him his rights, and agreed to speak with the Deputy. He asked Taylor to explain what happened earlier. Taylor told the Deputy he was looking for some marijuana, and he knew that his neighbors had some. Taylor checked the back door, and it was locked, but then he noticed that the window was unlocked, so he crawled through the window and went up the stairs to where the marijuana was and took it.

Taylor then stated that after he took the marijuana, he was confronted by the homeowner, who asked why he was there. Taylor then went to the basement where the juvenile was and entered his room.

Taylor told the Deputy shortly after the homeowner asked him where the marijuana was. Taylor told him it was in his back pocket and gave it back to the homeowner.

Taylor was instructed to turn around and place his hands behind his back because he was under arrest for the burglary. He was booked into the Uintah County Jail for burglary of a dwelling.
