Roosevelt, Ut.- On 9/5/22, the UBNSF arranged to meet with a confidential informant to purchase illegal narcotics and possibly a firearm. This was the fourth controlled buy on this subject.

The Agents met with the CI at a prearranged location and searched the informant's person and the vehicle that was being used. No weapons, money, or controlled substances were found.

The agents issued several hundred dollars to the CI to purchase the illegal narcotics and firearm. A recording device was also issued to the CI.

The Agents parked near the arranged location of 201 E 600 S prior to the CI’s arrival, and other Agents followed the CI. The CI drove directly into the location while the Agents watched from the apartment complex on the southwest corner. After some time, the CI left in the vehicle from the apartment complex.

After the drug transaction was complete, the Agents returned to the prearranged location and maintained visual and audio surveillance throughout the controlled buy.

The Agents met with the CI, and the CI provided an account of what had taken place.

The CI reported meeting with 43-year-old Jeremy Don Chastain. The CI stated they entered the residence, where they asked Jeremy about purchasing a gun. Jeremy told them he could sell them a 20 gauge shotgun with 100 rounds of ammo. The CI told Agents they bought the shotgun and ammo for $300.

The CI stated they also purchased an "eight Ball" of methamphetamine, two grams of heroin, Xanax, Klonopin, and Valume for $340.

The CI then turned over the drugs and a set of keys that went to the gun lock on the 20 gauge shotgun. The CI stated the shotgun and 100 rounds of ammunition were in the vehicle.

One of the Agents conducted a secondary search of the CI’s person while another Agent searched the CI’s vehicle. No illegal substances, contraband, or money was found.

On 3/15/23, Jeremy Chastain was taken into custody by one of the agents and an FBI Agent. During their conversation with Jeremy, he admitted selling illegal narcotics to several individuals over the last six months.

When asked about selling a shotgun, Jeremy initially denied doing so, then later admitted to selling the shotgun.

Jeremy admitted knowing he wasn't allowed to possess firearms due to his prior felony convictions in Oklahoma.

Jeremy was transported to the Duchesne County Jail and booked for Distribution of Heroin, Distribution of Methamphetamine, Distribution of a Schedule IV Controlled Substance, Possession/Transfer of a Firearm by a Category II Restricted Person, and Distribution of Drug Paraphernalia.
