Vernal, Utah (4/13/26)—Officer Escobedo received a domestic violence report. During this investigation, the female presented several screenshots of text messages she had received to the officer.
The messages appeared to be aggressive and threatening. The victim showed the officer various images of text messages from 37-year-old Mathew Brandon Ross, one of which showed he sent the victim an image of a hand holding a semi-automatic handgun, followed by the statement, "You abandoned me for the last time."
Additionally, in these texts Mathew began to threaten suicide if the victim did not return his phone calls, then threatens to take away the home from the victim, stating, "Get a lawyer. Ill see you in court", "Don't pack anything though. They'll take the clothes off your back.", and "Say goodbye to your precious home". Mathew also stated, "Aw, are you a little victim?", followed by, "Boo fuckin hoo."
The victim also sent Officer Escobedo a video, which she recorded on her phone while speaking with Mathew about a document. When the victim states that it would be possible for her and Mathew to have happy, separate homes, Mathew states, "That's not how this is gonna work. If there are separate homes, I'm fucking you over. I'm fuckin' ruining your life."
