A Vernal RV business loses $ 3,500 worth of items after they are stolen from a camp trailer

Vernal, Utah (4/13/26)—Sgt. Cannon was notified that an RV business reported that a customer's RV, which was there for repairs, was burglarized between 4/8/26 and 4/10/26.
The employee informed the Sergeant that several thousand dollars' worth of items had been stolen from the RV. These items included a 30-gallon propane bottle, two Furrion Vision side cameras, a Furrion backup camera monitor, a propane tank gauge, and two Battleborn lithium-ion batteries. The total value of these items exceeded $3,500.
Sgt. Cannon looked over the RV from which the items had been stolen and found pry marks on the paint where the side cameras had been removed. He could also see where the thief had tried to cut the battery cables to steal the batteries.
At this time, the police didn't have any suspect information.
On 5/12/26, Sgt. Cannon was informed that the employee had located the stolen items. The stolen items were observed on an RV on a property in Uintah County. The RV was found to belong to 33-year-old Gregory Ray Smith.
An affidavit for a search warrant was submitted to obtain the stolen property from the RV. The warrant was granted. All of the above-mentioned stolen property, except the backup camera monitor, was recovered from the RV.
Gregory Smith was later located by Uintah County Deputies, who took him into custody and transported him to the Uintah County Jail.
Sgt. Cannon met with Gregory at the jail and advised him of his rights under Miranda, and he stated he understood.
After speaking with Gregory for some time, he admitted to Sgt. Cannon had stolen the aforementioned items from the RV at the local RV business. He asked Gregory about the backup monitor, and he said he didn't steal that item. Gregory stated he stole the items because he needed power for his RV.
Gregory was booked into jail for Burglary (a 3rd Degree Felony), Theft (a 3rd Degree Felony, and Property Damage (a Class B Misdemeanor).
