A Uintah County Man With Outstanding Warrants Cuts Off His Ankle Monitor

Prior to this incident, an AP&P agent notified the parolee that he had an outstanding warrant for his arrest. He was previously scheduled to report to the Adult Probation and Parole Office on September 3, 2024, at 3:00 pm.


On September 3, 2024, at approximately 12:12:37 pm, 20-year-old Jaxon Lee Gross contacted Adult Probation and Parole via telephone and said he hadn't been able to attend therapy. Jaxon Stated he knew he had paperwork filed through the Court, and he didn't want to go back to jail.


Agent Ercanbrack told him he needed to come and check in with him at 3 p3 p.m. he was also informed Jaxon of his warrants and was told that he would be booked into jail when he reported to the Adult Probation and Parole Office.


On September 3, 2024, at approximately 1:06 pm, P&P received a notification that Jaxon cut the strap off his GPS monitor at the Naples Maverik. AP&P agents responded to the gas station and found the GPS that was assigned to Jaxon.


The GPS was located on the baby changing table in the men's bathroom. At this time, Jaxon could not be located.


On September 25, 2024, Jaxon Gross was taken into custody by AP&P agents and booked into the Uintah County Jail on his outstanding warrants. There was also probable cause to charge Jaxon with escape because he intentionally removed his tracking device, which is installed as an alternative to incarceration.
