A female victim reported to 9-1-1 that she had been assaulted by her ex-boyfriend, 50-year-old Denny Jay Hatch, the night before.
Vernal City Police responded to the assault detail and met with the victim, who said Denny had come over to her trailer the night before drunk and belligerent.
The victim told Officer Escobedo that Denny had punched her twice during the argument, and another individual had witnessed the incident.
The officer located the witness and spoke with him about the incident between the victim and Denny. The witness stated he saw Denny push the victim down and hit her multiple times.
During this investigation, it was discovered that a protective order was in place between the victim and Denny out of Colorado.
Given the information, the officer determined there was probable cause to arrest Denny for a violation of a protective order and domestic violence assault.
Denny was subsequently located and arrested by assisting officers and transported to the Uintah County Jail, where he was booked for the following offenses:
Violation of a Protective Order enhanced to a 3rd Degree Felony for prior convictions.
Assault with Domestic Violence enhanced to a Class A Misdemeanor for prior convictions.
