A Uintah County man arrested for beating on a pregnant woman

Vernal, Utah (5/18/26)—A couple living at 126 N 500 E in the East Meadows Mobile Home Park in Uintah County got into an argument when the woman tried to end her relationship with 37-year-old Cort R. Warren.
The woman told police the argument had started the night before and that she had left the home. She then returned to the residence the next morning to pick up her children. The argument started up again, and she said "It got a little rough." She told police, "There may have been some hair pulling, a little shoving, and pushing down."
She told Cpl. Randall she tried to fight back and pull Cort's hair while he was pulling hers. He asked her whether they had children together, and she replied that she was currently pregnant with Cort's child.
While Cpl. Randall was speaking with the female, he saw a red mark on her forehead and asked her how she got it. She began to cry and said Cort held her down by holding her wrists and kneeling on her, and began hitting her in the forehead with an open hand.
The Corporal then spoke with Cort and asked him to tell his side of the story. Cort began to explain to Cpl. Randall that he and the female had been arguing, and this wasn't the first time the female had attacked him. He said he didn't care, but it happened in front of his children, and it hurt him.
The officer asked what he meant by her “attacking him.” Cort replied, “Dumb girl shit, like slapping and pulling hair.” He was asked if the female had slapped him, and he stated yes, but he didn’t care. When asked where she had slapped him, Cort just said, “You guys,” and didn’t answer.
One of the children began crying and Cort asked if he could grab him, and Cpl. Randall told him he could. After Cort calmed the child down, the Corporal asked him whether both children were at the residence when the altercation occurred. Cort stated they were.
While the officer was interviewing Cort, the officer asked him what he did when the woman slapped him. Cort told the officer he grabbed her hands and tried to get her out of the house. He tried to restrain her so she couldn’t hit him.
Cort’s youngest child began crying again, and while he was calming the child down, Cpl. Randall spoke with Sgt. Johnstun.
After the child was calm the officer asked Cort to explain what happened that morning again. Cort told Cpl. Randall, the female, came over, still upset from the night before. She tried to take the children and he wouldn't let her. Cort then said he didn't know what upset her, and then threw something at the TV.
Cort told her to stop, and that is when she attacked him. He wanted to get her out of the house because she was attacking him in front of the kids, by slapping, pulling his hair, and scratching him. He told the officer the female had him by the hair, and they went to the floor. He got off of her and told her to get out of the house. Cpl. Randall did not observe any physical injuries to Cort.
Sgt. Johnstun noticed a clump of the woman's hair fall out as he spoke with her.
Cpl. Randall determined that Cort Warren used unlawful force or violence against the female, which resulted in bodily injury. He also used unlawful force and violence against the female with the knowledge of her being pregnant, and committed these acts in front of their two juvenile sons.
Cort was taken to the Uintah County Jail, where he was booked on the following charges:
One count of assault of a pregnant person, domestic violence.
Two counts of commission of domestic violence in the presence of a child.
