Vernal, Ut.- On 2/27/23, a black Nissan truck was reported stolen in the area of 1400 S. The complainant said he went out around 5:00 am to start his truck, and about 10 minutes later when he went back outside, his truck was missing.

At around 11:00 am, Deputies received a report of a male sleeping inside a black Nissan truck at 636 N 2410 W. The caller who reported the suspicious vehicle said it had been parked there since around 5:30 or 5:50 am.

Deputies arrived at the location and made contact with the male inside the black truck, and he was identified as 38-year-old Lesley Eugene Autry.

Inside the truck with Lesley were two brown/white medium-sized dogs.

Lesley was taken into custody for being in possession of a stolen vehicle, and he refused to answer any questions.

After further investigation, witnesses reported seeing a male matching Lesley's description walking one block from where the truck was stolen. Lesley was seen 42 minutes before the truck was stolen in the same area wearing dark-colored clothing and had 2 brown/white dogs with him.

When Deputies found him, he was wearing a black jacket, dark colored sweatpants and had the same 2 dogs with him.

The black Nissan truck was returned to the owner without any damage. There was urine on one of the seats, believed to be from one of the dogs.

Lesley Eugene Autry was booked into the Uintah County Jail for the theft of a vehicle.
