11/12/24

| Roosevelt, Ut. | November 11th, 2024 |

On Monday, Officer Reed was dispatched to a shoplifting at Stewart's Market Place at 245 West US-40 in Roosevelt, Utah.

A Stewart's employee stated he saw 46-year-old Jolayne Vesta Miller taking two 16oz cans of Pepsi and deli products worth $19.18.

The employee tried to stop Jolayne from leaving the store before the police arrived, but she left the location walking eastbound. The employee followed Jolayne, updating dispatch on where she was heading toward the Stoneridge apartments. She then changed direction and headed toward North Poco Drive.

Officer Reed found Jolayne on North Poco Drive, stopped, and she asked the officer what he was doing. He informed her she was at Stewart’s and took some items from the store. Jolayne stated that her card was denied, and her church would pay for the food.

Officer Reed asked Jolayne for her ID, and she handed him her driver's license. As the officer attempted to run her information through dispatch, Jolayne stated that she was an undercover officer and was investigating people who work at Stewart's for using drugs.

Jolayne stated that she was working for the FBI, and everyone was being investigated for drug smuggling, even Officer Reed.

At this time, Jolayne was told to put her hands behind her back, and she started saying the officer was arresting an undercover cop. She began to resist while being handcuffed she began yelling ASSAULT!!

Once she was placed in handcuffs, she was transported to the Duchesne County Jail.

Based on the affirmation of Officer Reed,  the arresting officer, the undersigned magistrate finds that probable cause existed for the arrest without a warrant of Jolayne Vesta Miller. Jolayne Vesta Miller may post bail in the amount of $1,000.00.
