A habitual thief from Idaho arrested for theft at Walmart.

Vernal, Utah—On March 12th, 2026, shortly after 6:30 pm, 48-year-old Brandy Sue Montoya had shoplifted from Walmart and was now leaving the store.
It was reported that Brandy was in the parking lot getting into a white Nissan car, and driving out of the East side parking lot. Police were informed that Brandy had been trespassed from Walmart.
Police arrived and located a white Nissan passenger car leaving. Police got behind the car in the Walmart parking lot and activated their emergency lights to get the vehicle to pull over.
The officer approached the vehicle's driver's side window, identified himself, and explained the reason for the stop. The driver was identified by her Idaho driver's license, and left with Officer Escobedo while Officer Nielsen went into Walmart, where I spoke with the complainant.
The complainant showed the officer a Notice of Trespass dated April 11th, 2024. The Notice of Trespass was signed by Brandy Montoya.
Officer Nielsen was shown a video of Brandy paying for two items. She grabs the items that she bagged; she took a handful of grocery sacks. Brandy then went back through the store, placing items in the bags she had taken, adding multiple items to her cart, and leaving the store with a full shopping cart.
Due to Brandy being aware that she was trespassed from Walmart because of a document that she had signed on April 11th, 2024, this would be a class A misdemeanor.
Officer Nielsen returned to speak with Brandy and asked her about the trespass form. She knew about it but said she didn't realize it was for every Walmart because she signed the document in Idaho. Police allowed Brandy to call someone to come and get her daughter and vehicle.
Brandy Montoya was arrested, taken to the Uintah County Jail, and booked for retail theft after receiving a written notice, a class A misdemeanor, and for Trespassing, a class B misdemeanor.
