| Myton, Ut. | August 16th, 2024 |

At around 5:17 am, Deputy Smith received a call about an assault that had taken place in Myton. The victim stated that 34-year-old Casey Lynn Malin had attacked him without warning.

The victim said Casey stabbed him multiple times in the neck and back, as well as his hands, with an improvised knife. The victim stated that the assault happened sometime around 9:00 pm on August 15th, and he passed out after he had been stabbed. He then woke up around 5:00 am, and Casey was still outside of his trailer, messing with it.

When Deputy Smith arrived, he made contact with Casey, who was attempting to flee in a white pickup truck.

Deputy Smith pulled his service weapon, pointing it at Casey giving him verbal commands to get on the ground and not to move. After placing Casey in handcuffs, a pocket knife was found, and a filed down piece of metal on his person. The victim would later identify the piece of metal as the weapon that was used in the assault.

The victim had four stab wounds to the back of the neck, his back, and one stab wound that went all the way through his right hand.

While searching the white pickup that Casey attempted to flee in, a pistol was found in the driver's side door of the truck. It was within arm's reach of Casey while he was in the driver's seat. Casey would claim the gun did not belong to him.

The Pickup truck would be found to have been stolen, as well as the pistol found in the door.

Casey also attempted to steal items from around and in the victim's trailer.

It was confirmed that Casey is on parole with AP&P.

Casey was arrested for the below listed charges and booked into the Duchesne County Jail.
