A Man Receives A Broken Nose During A Family Gathering

4/13/24

| Vernal, Ut. | 4/10/24 | Assault |

Uintah County Deputies responded to a family fight in progress, where two men were detained for their involvement in the fight.

While interviewing witnesses, they stated that 34-year-old Orlando Robert Sandoval and 55-year-old Lance James Gardner were sitting outside in the backyard drinking alcohol when Orlando headbutted Lance in the face.

Orlando and Lance began to exchange punching each other multiple times while a female was in between them, trying to separate the two.

The fight had broken up, and Orlando was helped into the home when Lance entered and re-engaged the fight, striking Orlando.

When deputies arrived, Orlando and Lance were separated by the deputies on the home's front porch.

Lance had bruising around his left eye, which was swollen enough that the deputy was unable to see his eye. His face was covered in dried blood, and he was transported to the hospital. After the examination by the ER Dr, it was determined Lance had sustained a broken nose.

Lance Gardner was placed under arrest and transported and booked into the Uintah County Jail for simple assault.

Orlando Sandoval was arrested, transported, and booked into the Uintah County Jail for a Class A Misdemeanor Assault. Orlando was also charged with Possession of Alcohol by an Interdicted Person, a class B misdemeanor, due to his probation status with AP&P.
