A Vernal City Police Officer arrested 23-year-old Martin Sanchez Calderon on an active and extraditable warrant from New Mexico.

During the arrest, Martin resisted by twisting his body and physically wrestling against Officer Murray and Sgt Roth as they attempted to place him in the back of the patrol vehicle.

The officers repeated multiple commands for Martin to comply, but he continued to resist, escalating the situation by repeatedly kneeing Officer Murray in the chest.

Because of Martin's non-compliance, he continued his physical aggression. Sgt Roth deployed his taser to gain control of Martin.

While being transported to the Uintah County Jail, Martin stated he was aware of both his warrants in New Mexico and Texas.

Martin Calderon intentionally evaded to Utah to try and hide from his warrants.

Martin is being held without bail. His crimes in New Mexico and Texas were not included in the affidavit.
