Vernal City Police were dispatched to a disorderly at the Valley Saloon at 1684 West US-40 Vernal, Ut. Call notes indicated multiple individuals were drinking and were previously physically fighting.
When police arrived at the Saloon, a man known as 22-year-old Jaxon Gale Stewart was walking toward the entrance/exit and appeared to be looking for someone.
When Jaxon got closer to the police, it was easy to tell that he was clearly intoxicated and had blood on his lips.
Officer McCurdy attempted to speak with Jaxon and stop him from walking away, but Jaxon pulled his arm away. The officers attempted to put Jaxon in handcuffs, and he physically resisted by pulling his arms away, preventing the police from detaining him.
Jaxon was taken to the ground, where he continued to physically resist and made homophobic slurs towards the officers at an unreasonable loud noise. Jaxon continued to be loud after being told to cease by law enforcement.
While attempting to secure Jaxon in the backseat of a patrol vehicle, he turned towards Officer McCurdy and kicked him, striking the officer on the leg.
Later, reviewing security camera footage from the Valley Saloon, Jaxon was getting into a physical altercation with another male on separate occasions. In between one of the physical altercations, Jaxon is seen entering a female-designated restroom outside the Saloon across the hall.
Jaxon was transported to the Uintah County Jail to be booked on charges. At the jail, Jaxon provided a presumptive Portable Breath Test showing positive results of alcohol at .321 Breath Alcohol Content BrAC.
Jaxon Gale Stewart may post bail in the amount of $5,000.00.
