On June 1, 2025, Cpl McCurdy was dispatched to the residence where the assault had taken place.

18-year-old Gianni Jay Davis was identified as assaulting a seventeen-year-old victim.

The officer watched a video of the incident where Gianni from previous law enforcement encounters. In the video, the victim is seen lying on his back with his hands defensively covering his face.

Gianni is observed kicking the victim three times in the torso area. Gianni is heard mentioning Big Norte and having the victim say he was sorry. Norte is a gang originating in the Ogden, UT area.

On June 1, 2025, Cpl McCurdy went to Gianni's residence located at 50 S 1500 W. He was confronted about the incident, and the officer told him he saw the video of him kicking the victim.

Officer McCurdy determined there was probable cause that Gianni committed the criminal offense of child abuse, intentionally used unlawful force by kicking the victim multiple times, and continued to kick the victim until he mentioned Big Norte and said what Gianni wanted.

Gianni Davis may post bail of $1,000.00.
